KFC looking to open a new branch in Stanway

First published in News

KFC is hoping to open a new branch in Stanway which could create up to 50 jobs.

The fast food outlet, which also wants to open a second store in Ipswich Road, Colchester, in addition to its High Street one, has confirmed it is looking for a third site.

A KFC spokesman said: “We'd love to open a restaurant in Stanway to satisfy demand from our fans in the area.

“A new store would create approximately 40-50 career opportunities.

“We're currently looking for a suitable location, and hope to have some good news in the future."

The company had previously put in planning permission to open a new store on land to the west of the Tollgate Retail Park, Stanway.

Absolutely no chance if Colchester Council has anything to do with it.
I dont understand why Stanway has to put up with the nonsense of Colchester Borough anymore: The Boundary Commission moved Stanway, away for voting in the national elections to Braintree & Witham under Ms P Patel. Why cant Stanway be under their councils for Council Tax and other services? There would be no conflict of interest in issues with Colchester High Street and commerce etc. Colchester Borough makes decisions that suit themselves and not the development of Stanway or any other areas that will try to propagate outside of their High Street. Kentucky have been feeling the water in Stanway for years. Let us hope they get on with it this time and use their clout in the High Court to get something pushed through. The Argos in Stanway does twice the trade as Colchester Central. That s figures from Argos.

I agree with regards to the useless Colchester Council, but boundaries are not related to constituancies. I don't really think Stanway would be a lot better off with a remote location in Braintree - you only have to ask people in Witham and Halstead about that!

And all because CBC planing insists that piece of land has to be used for office/light industry and not retail. It's all because they agreed Sainsbury's could move to their current site which was originally designated office/light industry development only. So thats why we get this eyesore in the middle of the largest out of town retail development in Colchester.

Stanway should not be under the jurisdiction of Colchester Borough Council and The Teflons: Where do you get your facts from anyway? Did not know that you live in the ward.If Stanway was under Braintree & Witham Council Stanway would get a better deal. Stuff Colchester, Stanway needs to start a campaign for Stanway to get out of Colchester completely. You lot cant even get Jumbo Tower right, why should Stanway let you make decisions that affect their future. Tollgate needs more food outlets they need a Subway Sandwich bar/ More Coffee shops Costa Coffee is rammed all day to the rafters. Stanway needs a night club bar there on the site, they have one at The Crescent why not at Tollgate. The Watts family and Quattro Developments in London have done a great job in Tollgate I think there is a bit of unrequited jealousy going on here?

We dont need KFC, Pizza Hut, Dominos, Subway or any other food outlet that serves meat killed in such a barbaric way like the halal way.
Strung up by one leg and having your throat cut while still contuse results in a heart attack which is very stress-full and painful. And reciting a prayer while doing it does not make anything better.

Nothing more than savages.

I don't profess to know it all, just take an active interest in the area I live! Just asking who they were, never heard of them, and from their website, can't find much to do with Tollgate or Stanway either! Clearly people on this group know more about it than I do.
