COLCHESTER’S MP accused Essex County Council of delaying an announcement of road improvements for two weeks – just in time for the local elections.
County Hall revealed on Wednesday more than £485,000 will be spent on Colchester roads.
The schemes were signed off by Rodney Bass, councillor responsible for highways, on April 15.
Lib Dem Sir Bob Russell said: “I find it cynical the announcement has been delayed until the election period. I wish they wouldn’t treat people as if they were mugs.
“I’m confident the people of Colchester will see through this Tory ploy.”
