Essex County Standard: We’ll cross Europe in our BMW banger We’ll cross Europe in our BMW banger

THIS 14-year-old BMW has clocked up 240,000 miles and cost £500, but Adam Green and his pals hope it will take them on a 3,000-mile tour of Europe.

Adam, 30, from Colchester, has teamed up with Darren Armstrong, from Frinton, and brother and sister Graham and Louise Ball, from West Sussex, to take part in the Scum Run challenge.

They were only allowed to spend £500 on the 1997 BMW Grand Tourer.

Adam said: “The car is all right – it is in good nick.

“I love travelling. I like an adventure and we’re all very excited.

Say It As It Is OK? says...

I'm sure a maths degree is not a requirement of working for the Gazette but a car registered in 1997 does not make it 14 years old! Also as the Scum Run is a charitable event it would have been good to hear which charities these lads are supporting.
