A NEW pedestrian crossing will finally be built near a secondary school after years of campaigning by parents, pupils, councillors and the Gazette.
Essex County Council has earmarked £120,000 for the crossing, in Brinkley Grove Road, Colchester, outside the Gilberd School.
Highwoods borough councillor Gerard Oxford, one of those who have been fighting to get the crossing, said: “It was a punch the air moment when I heard. It’s fantastic. I’m really happy."
