A HEADTEACHER who dedicated 36 years to teaching has retired.

Karen Springett began her career in 1978 and worked at several schools, including Mersea Island, Stanway Fiveways, Little Oakley and Hazelmere Junior and Infants, in Colchester.

Her final post, which she held for eight years, was as head at Milldene Primary School, in Tiptree.

She said: “I’ve had an amazing career. It has been very rewarding."
