Two friends will be joined by a host of television stars for a soon to be sold-out charity football competition.
Footballer Darren Thorne is organising the event at Colchester’s Weston Homes Community Stadium in aid of Prostate Cancer UK and the North East Essex Urology Cancer Support Group, which is based at Colchester Hospital.
The event on May 5 will see Dan Osborne, of The Only Way is Essex, go head to head with The Apprentice’s Neil Clough in the clash of Real Ale Madrid versus Beercalona.
Stella English, who featured in an earlier series of the BBC One show and Terry Lee, of Channel 4’s First Dates will also be supporting the event.
Mr Thorne has chosen the charities in support of his friend Mick Lang, who is the chairman of the support group and is currently undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.
Mr Thorne, who used to play for Warboys Town in the Jewson Premier League, has organised the event for the past three years in aid of different charities.
About 800 of the 1,000 tickets available have already been sold.
Mr Thorne said: “It is just amazing, just the fact we have got people who are on television involved now, the main thing is about making people aware of the illness.”
