GRAHAM Luckhurst wasn’t the type to lounge around when he retired.
Instead, he decided to row around the world, all from the relative comfort of the gym at the Marks Tey Hotel.
The 67-year-old grandad’s self-imposed target is to cover 51,271km.
Yesterday he completed his 40,000th km, as he passed the Pacific Islands - on the map at least.
Mr Luckhurst, who lives in Marks Tey, said: “I don’t think anyone is as mad as me.
“I’ve had blisters, torn muscles in my back and torn tendons in my right arm, but I’m still going.
“There are a few people in the UK who are trying to do it and I think at the moment, I’ve covered the most distance.”
