Tributes paid to victim of Colchester Castle Park murder victim

Essex County Standard: Tributes paid to Castle Park murder victim Tributes paid to Castle Park murder victim

TRIBUTES have been paid to a ‘shy and polite’ man who was killed in the early hours of Saturday morning.

James Attfield, 33, of East Bay, Colchester was found by a passerby in Castle Park at 5.45am and died shortly after despite receving treatment from paramedics.

Detectives are treating his death as murder and an investigation is continuing.

His mother, Julie Finch, paid tribute to her son who fought back from a car accident four years ago which left him with difficulty speaking.

"James was known as Jim to his family and was always shy and polite,” she said.

“Over the years people commented on how good his manners were. He loved karaoke and would often visit local Colchester bars to take part. He also enjoyed playing darts and watching stand-up comedy."

See today's paper for the full story and tributes.

A truly terrible and awful event. I would like to give our personal condolences to the family during time of grief.
I am in a similar boat with my son Nicholas, he has something wrong with his brain after drugs were found in him, Nicky does not do drugs or smoke and contrary to what Police have said our son ate this rubbish without his consent in a cake.
When his medication goes off he becomes very wobbly and we have to watch him like a hawk.
There is a menace in this town of unlawfulness and in-civil behaviour towards each other that is reaching a level which is alarming.
I will count the days until the murderers are caught.
Rest In Peace Through The Mercy Of What GOD is out there James+

I am truly shocked at this senseless murder of James in Castle Park. I often take my son and was horrified at the news and just pray that the person responsible can live with himself and that he is caught as soon as possible. I coulldnt believe this would happen in my town and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Rest in peace James. I hope the killer is caught and gets a lengthy sentence, 102 times, that should be 102 years to the utter scum who committed this. Condolences to family.
