COLCHESTER’S MP Sir Bob Russell helped move traffic past a road crash involving a moped and pick-up truck.
The crash happened in Middlebrough, Colchester, around 4pm on Saturday.
A female moped rider sustained minor injuries.
Sir Bob said he came across the crash moments after it happened and stopped his car to help form a barrier to the scene.
A man and woman were already comforting the rider and an ambulance had been called.
He said: “I moved my car over from the scene and proceeded to direct traffic coming from North Station towards the town. It had to go very slowly and I was doing this for about ten minutes.”
Another motorist, Colchester Scout District Commissioner Stuart Gibson, pulled over and kept traffic moving in the opposite direction.
When police and a paramedic arrived a short time later, the pair stood down.
An Essex Police spokesman said the collision involved a blue Yamaha moped and a blue Nissan Navara pick-up truck.
“A 35-year-old woman was treated at the scene by ambulance crews, her injuries were not thought to be serious.
“Enquiries into the circumstances leading up to the collision are continuing.”
