FIRE fighters have been tackling a blaze in a derelict building.

Two crews from Dovercourt fire station were called to the former office block in Garland Road, Parkeston, after a number of passers by saw smoke coming from the three-story building.

Fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus spent about 90 minutes bringing the fire under control, which broke out around 4pm on Saturday.

They then spent a further 30 minutes using a high pressure fan to clear the building of smoke.

An investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the fire.
