Two big name stores are signed up to be part of a new £70million indoor shopping centre in Colchester.
Developers have unveiled more details about their plans for Vineyard Gate which, as well as the two anchor stores, will also include about 20 new shops and six or seven restaurants.
The names of the two big retailers are set to be announced around Christmas, with planning permission being applied for in 2015 and work beginning the following year.
The 175,000sq ft shopping centre, which will replace Vineyard Street car park and some buildings in Osborne Street, will create 750 jobs.
On Monday night's cabinet meeting, councillors approved the deal in principle with Caddick Developments, which will see the authority invest £5million.
Leader Anne Turrell said: "This is the first step towards Vineyard Gate.
"I have every confidence in the developers that are doing Vineyard Gate.”
