A BUDDING young film star will appear in the next big Disney film starring Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie.

Autumn Parker, 11, of Colchester, was picked to appear in three scenes in Maleficent, a blockbuster due to be released in cinemas in May.

The youngster, who attends North Primary School, said: “I am really excited to see myself in the film.

“Me and a friend who played my brother in the film have arranged that we will probably go and see it in London together.”

Autumn was picked to be an extra in the film by her London-based agency, Bonnie and Betty, who she signed up with two years ago.

The dark fantasy movie stars A-lister Jolie as the Sleeping Beauty villain, Maleficent, in a new take on Disney’s 1959 film about the fairytale.

Autumn’s mum, Katrina, 39, said: “It was her first big opportunity.

"She did her first film and they asked her to join the agency.

“Being Disney, you don’t get an awful lot bigger than that.

“It was very tiring because they had to spend quite a few days on the set.”

Although Autumn wasn’t fortunate enough to meet Jolie herself, she did come pretty close during the filming she attended for three months at London’s Pinewood Studios.

Mrs Parker said: “They mainly worked with a body double, but they did see Angelina and they waved. I know some of the adults met her.”

During the hectic filming schedule, in 2012, Autumn had to be home-schooled and tutored on set.

In Autumn’s first scene, she is part of the Royal Court during Sleeping Beauty’s christening.

In another part, she is among the crowd as the King rallies troops to go after Maleficent, and her final flash of fame sees her at a party at the end of the movie.

Autumn’s film debut, which landed her the Maleficent role, was as a street child in the Invisible Woman, directed by and starring Ralph Fiennes.

It was released in cinemas in February.

Autumn, who attends Colchester’s Stars drama group, is also currently starring in the television advert for airfare comparison website, Skyscanner.

Doctor Who fan Autumn was particularly thrilled to discover the advert had been voiced by recent Doctor Matt Smith.

The £3million advertisement has been show in breaktimes between primetime soaps, Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

In it, Autumn draws an aeroplane before it comes to life.

Autumn said she hopes to star in similar Disney fantasy films when she grows up and said her favourite actress is American starlet Anna Kendrick.
