A man suspected of being one of north Essex’s most prolific burglars appeared in court this morning.
Homeless heroin user David Howard, 48, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court and was barely able to keep his eyes open as the nine charges against him were read out.
Howard was arrested in Kenworthy Road, Braintree, at 10.30am on Friday.
He has been charged with committing three burglaries in Braintree, two burglaries in Halstead, one attempted burglary in Braintree, one count of dangerous driving relating to an incident on Godlings Way on Monday, March 10, one associated count of driving while disqualified and a count of driving without insurance.
He was also wanted on recall to prison for breaching his licence conditions.
Howard was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court in May.
