A PRISONER has absconded from a Suffolk jail and could be on the run in Clacton.

Gary Edwards, 31, was serving a sentence for aggravated burglary at Hollesley Bay prison, but vanished on Friday February 14.

Edwards was present for the 9am roll call and was last seen at 10.30am.

Suffolk police officers are searching for him, focusing on the Clacton area where he has friends and associates.

He is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build with short brown hair and wearing glasses.

Officers say Edwards should not be approached. Anyone with information on the fugitive should contact Suffolk Police on 101 or visit their local police station.
