ABOUT 2,500 runners will pound the pavements on Sunday when they take part in Colchester’s fourth annual half marathon.

Organisers the Colchester Colne Round Table say the 13-mile event is the fastest growing half marathon in the UK.

Starting at the Weston Homes Community Stadium at 9am, the circular course heads via Boxted Road and downhill on Mile End Road into the town centre up North Hill.

Runners will pass through the High Street and down East Hill, before turning north up Ipswich Road and into the countryside of Langham and Boxted.

Rolling road closures will be in place as the front runners reach the roads and will remain for about 12 minutes.
