Shaun Whitten, 19, of Windsor Close, Colchester, took his grandmother’s car and crashed it in Magdalen street, Colchester on Friday, February 21 at 9pm.

He tried to run off, but was stopped by members of the public who detained him until police arrived.

He was fined and banned from driving when he appeared at court today and admitted drink-driving and driving without a licence or insurance.

Read the full story in tomorrow's Gazette.

I consider myself a hero and I am a driver, for those who have missed my past announcements I have not 1 not 2 but 3 motor vehicles. Sometimes when I'm thirsty I have a drink.
