A MAN and a van were damaged during a late night incident in Wivenhoe.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward who may be able to shed some light on what happened in the eary hours of Thursday morning.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We would like to hear from anyone with information about a disturbance that occurred in Bobbits Way close to Sainty Close at around 1.35am on Thursday.

"A white Ford Fiesta van parked up nearby was damaged during the incident and had its driver’s window smashed, the passenger door dented and the front grille bent.

"During the incident a man also suffered a cut to his forehead which required hospital treatment."

A 21-year-old man from Colchester has been arrested in suspicion of criminal damage and bailed while investigations continue.

Sgt Cheryl Croxson said: "The full circumstances of what happened, how the man came by his head injury, and the number of people involved in this incident are still being investigated.

"If anyone heard anything on the night in question or has any other information that could assist our enquiries we would very much like to hear from them.”
