I tripped on uneven slab outside Colchester’s new magistrates’ court

Essex County Standard: I tripped on uneven slab I tripped on uneven slab

A MAN has called for the pavement outside Colchester’s new magistrates’ court building to be fixed after he tripped and hurt his knee.

Daniel Lewis, 42, who has Parkinson’s disease, was walking to work on Wednesday when he tripped on a loose paving slab.

He is concerned an older person could suffer a serious injury.

Mr Lewis, who lives in the New Town area of Colchester, and works as a cleaner, said: “I went past so many loose slabs.

“If an elderly person should do that they could break something and it could be serious.”

Hey Mr Lewis who do you think you are taking the job of highlighting loose paving slabs away from Bob Russell?

You should watch your step down North Hill too, just outside the One Stop there is a slab that looks like it has a sink hole underneath it.
Maybe we can get a councilor to stand on it and jump up and down to prove that it is safe?

It's not only the tripping that's an issue, under these slabs is a lot of water and on the way to work I stepped on an uneven slab, and dirty water splashed up on my suit trousers.... Not a great start to the morning!

Maybe I should have sent the dry cleaning bill to Bob!

The workmen from Highways were on that stretch all last week and repaired the stretch between the Magistartes Court and St Botolphs street. They have made a reasonable job of what they did repair, but there were two big tipping-stones no repaired one of which seems to be the one in question. While they were there I mentioned this two that they had missed but they told me that they were not on their list so they couldn't do them although they were only twenty feet away from where they were working. It seems to be a shame that they only do halves of jobs. I might mention a hole in the pavement in Winnock Road over which people regularly trip. Looking down it you could see that there is a half-metre cubed cavity underneath and the whole pavement is sagging. I reported this over two years and it was fixed a year latter by tipping a tiny amount of asphalt into the visible bit. It lasted only a week before collapsing again. About two weeks ago it was fixed a second time by- yes, tipping a tiny amount of asphalt into it, which has already collapsed.

I think it is high time the people responsible for the dangerous condition of some of our roads and pavements in Colchester were inside the Magistrates Court accounting for themselves. I had the misfortune to drive down Greenstead Road today and I promise you all someone is going to be seriously injured if the Council doesn't act soon and sort the huge holes out. If I remember correctly the Council was successfully sued by a resident of this road not too long ago.

You are what's know in the I.T. World as a "keyboard hero" probably a coward?
You are big and brave behind the protection of an I.P. address
What a sad individual!
To me you are either a woman that is badly in need of counselling and Prozac
Or you are some one or something to do with Justice79 who had their account warned or suspended by the Administrators.
My other take on you was or possibly is fairly accurate you may not be in the job now but you might have been in the past?
I am scared of know-one so carry on, I know what I am I do not need to hind behind bits of plastic and electronics, to get my point over.
If you want I am happy to tell you in person to your face.
