LITTLE ones got their first taste of a new healthy heart campaign at a Colchester community centre.
Halls in Partnership, which runs five community halls across the borough, hosted the first Healthy Heart session yesterday at the Oak Tree Community Centre, in Harwich Road.
The event saw kids aged up to four-years-old learning how exercise affects their heart.
Classes, which are funded by £7,482 from charity Heart Research UK, are also planned for children aged between four and eight and between eight and 11.
About a dozen kids took part in skipping, running and sports day races.
They measured their pulse before and after each session to show the effect the activities had.
Sareena Cobden, who runs Halls in Partnership, said: “It was fantastic. The funders were here and were really pleased with the turn out.
“The plan is to make children more aware of their heart and what impact exercise and things like food has on their hearts.”
Sessions will also take place in Old Heath Community Centre, the Hythe Community Centre, Abbots Community Hall, and Straight Road Community Centre, in Prettygate.
