A CARE home nurse was sacked for sleeping while on night duty, a misconduct hearing has heard.

Senior staff found Lucyna Abramowicz asleep in a side room during a break at Colonia Court nursing home, St Andrew’s Avenue, Colchester.

Abramowicz admitted being asleep on June 15 2012, and on a few other dates prior to this, at a two-day Nursing and Midwifery Council conduct and competence committee hearing.

In its adjudication, the panel issued a one-year caution against Abramowicz, but praised the nurse for her honesty, insight and genuine remorse.
