Volunteers donated pushchairs to the women’s refuge as part of their 90th anniversary celebration.
Members of the The Inner Wheel Club of Colchester, which raises funds to help children in need, presented the six strollers to Kathy Lee of the Colchester and Tendring Women’s Refuge.
As part of its 90th anniversary celebrations the Association of Inner Wheel Clubs is running a campaign called a Presentation of Wheels.
Colchester branch member Uta Luff said: “We wanted to present a deserving charity something that included wheels so these pushchairs, with eight wheels per push chair, was a little play on words and the idea.
“We have supported the women’s refuge for many years.”
She hopes the pushchairs will enable more children to go on outings from the refuge as they take up less room than most buggies.
She added: “For me personally it is always the children that suffer most.”
