A COLCHESTER ballet dancer has been plucked from 200 young hopefuls to appear in a performance of Swan Lake.

Megan Patmore, 13, is set to perform the Russian ballet with the English Youth Ballet next month.

The Stanway School pupil has been doing ballet since she was three-years-old.

Proud mum Josephine Patmore, 43, who lives in Mount Bures, said: “It’s amazing for her.

“It was her first time she had an audition to get into an actual show.

“On the day, there were 90 auditionees and they only took 30 through, so she was over the moon.”

Megan, who stars in the corps de ballet group, started dancing after one of her friends introduced her at a toddler group.

Mrs Patmore added: “We’re set for a very busy half term, and we’ll be spending a lot of time in Norwich until the shows.

“But she is mad on dancing, so it is definitely worth it.”

The performances take place at Norwich Theatre Royal on March 7 and March 8.

Megan attends the Charlotte School of Dance, run by Charlotte Sanders, based in Marks Tey.
