Plus size model Rosie challenges our views about weight

A PLUS-SIZE model is on a mission to challenge views about weight.

Rosie Sizer, 21, has been modelling for two years and is a size 16 to 18.

The mum, who lives in Tiptree, said: “Because I am a plus size model, I face a lot of bias and I get told I am fat, unattractive and, most annoyingly of all, I’m supposedly unhealthy.

“I made it my little mission to make sure women and men know it is actually OK to carry a little bit of extra weight and still love being yourself and to have a positive self image.”

Rosie said she eats three meals a day, practises pilates every day and walks.

Her modelling includes vintage, pin-up girl and edgier, alternative looks.

She has posed for a calendar and done shoots for clothing companies.

She is also moving into burlesque dancing and singing and said photographers she has worked with prefered to work with curvy women instead of those who are very slim.

Say It As It Is OK? says...

I just don't understand how this woman, who says she is healthy, can promote obesety. There is undisputed evidence saying obesity is a major cause of many ailments as well as life threatening illnesses.

Or is this more about her self promotion rather than a news item?

Large people are kidding themselves if they say they are happy and comfortable with their weight. I know people who have pretended to be "fat and happy" but when they lose the weight they admit that they weren't. It isn't healthy being substantially overweight. But it is all relative to your height etc etc and your muscle mass (ie rugby players). Personally, I am not interested in fat women.

Obesity and being overweight is UNHEALTHY.
The obese and the overweight are in denial.
Risks include. Type 2 diabetes, Heart attack, High blood pressure, Obstructive sleep apnea, Gout, High cholesterol, reflux heartburn, Osteoarthritis, Cancer (bowel, breast and esophageal) & Heart failure.

All the above costs the NHS lots of money and what's annoying is they are are all totally & utterly avoidable since the food does not hold people down and force it's self on you.

WRONG. all you commenters are wrong. she is beautiful. and you have all been deluded by the media and the patriarchy.
body shaming is not okay. a persons shape has no bearing on their health. all bodies are beautiful and they are ALL F###ING DIFFERENT.

some people are fat some people are skinny. and while there are people whose weight is a health issue for them this model is not one of them. she is BARELY above average weight.
the size you all think is normal due to tv and magazines is RIDICULOUSLY more unhealthy than this. they are all photoshopped and distorted.

i literally cannot fathom how ignorant and stupid you people are. the hate you are spewing is obviously the result of some kind of childhood trauma or insecurity and so you thrust your self loathing onto other people

burn in hell

AND ANOTHER THING
you all need to stop watching **** and stop believing the photoshopped magazines. the body shapes in those things are actually way more unhealthy than mildly chubby people.

just a simple google search reveals that underweight people and people with eating disorders. the kinds of things caused by the bigotry and body shaming that you people enforce. is actually WAY more dangerous than a little extra cushion

We don't even know that she is obese. For that, we'd need to know her height and her weight, giving her BMI.
Everybody knows it is unhealthy to be overweight or obese, and most people try to do somethng about it. This lady will probably do likewise, if/when her career in modelling and burlesque comes to an end.
It is similarly unhealthy to be grossly underweight, especially for a young person. How many people die of anorexia nervosa? How many commit suicide because of worries about their body shape?
Good luck to Rosie in her battle against the body fascists.

FYI if you actually read the full article in the news paper you would know that she is actually promoting body positivity. By commenting with negative and body shaming remarks (bullying)... You are actually proving her point. Putting someone down about their appearance doesn't make you anymore attractive than you are.....

She's a size 16, which is the national average size for women in the UK. I hope that all you nasty computer warriors that have commented are perfect.
If not maybe you should get the confidence and post an image so we can judge you?

Saying that she is obese is ridiculous, you don't know her weight or height!!

I wouldn't never say to someone that they are going to get some form of illness, due to their way of life. That is sick. You should be disgusted with yourselves.
