Students are reeling following the sudden death of 19-year-old Tyler Duchar-Clark.
Former Tabor Science College pupil Tyler, of Braintree, had been studying at the University of Portsmouth and was found dead in his room on Sunday.
Tributes have been paid to the promising young man.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Graham Galbraith said: “The university community was shocked to learn that one of our students, Tyler Duchar-Clark, had died in his room in James Watson Hall of Residence.
“Tyler, age 19, was in his first year of a BA Hons degree in Television and Film Production and was progressing well with his studies. His tutor said he was a bright, proactive student who was doing well academically.
“All students in halls of residence have been contacted personally and offered support and counselling by the university.
“We send our sincere condolences to Tyler's family and friends who have the full support of the University at this very difficult time.”
