A £600,000 scheme to redesign Colchester’s Red Lion Yard will begin on Monday.
A refurbishment of the area, linking High Street with Lion Walk Shopping Centre, will include new shop fronts and improved lighting and signs.
First Choice has been appointed to carry out the work, due to be completed this summer.
Over the next few months, some of the smaller vacant units will be combined to create larger boutiques and a coffee shop.
Surveyor Nicholas Percival is the letting agent for the available units in the yard.
Nancy Cannon, commercial surveyor, said: “Red Lion Yard is home to some fantastic local retailers, but it’s no secret there are a number of empty units.
“The revitalisation is designed to attract new businesses and create a boutique feel. We’re looking forward to seeing Red Lion Yard come to life over the next few months.”
