A WOMAN suffered severe facial injuries in a violent Christmas Eve attack.
The 20-year-old was walking along Rosemary Road in Clacton at 9pm when she saw two men verbally abusing another man.
She tried to intervene but was assaulted and suffered a suspected fractured cheekbone.
The victim was taken to Colchester General Hospital for treatment to her injuries.
Police later arrested a 28-year-old Clacton man on suspicion of assault and being drunk and disorderly.
He was questioned at Clacton police station before being released on police bail pending.
