A DENTIST who doctored medical records after a complaint has been suspended.

Kenneth Harrow, based at the Evergreen Dentistry surgery in London Road, Stanway, provided “substandard care and treatment” to a patient from September 2002 to June 2011.

A Professional Conduct Committee of the General Dental Council heard how Harrow, who first registered as a dentist in 1989, failed to keep adequate records of treatment and then later changed the records after the patient complained in 2011.

He also prescribed unnecessary antibiotics and across a four year period failed to diagnose a mouth disease.

Harrow, who admitted several of the charges including falsifying records after a complaint, said he had made changes including improvements to his record-keeping and expressed remorse for his actions.

The committee report said the shortcomings were serious, but noted it was an isolated event unlikely to happen again.

Harrow was suspended for nine months, subject to a 28-day appeal period.
