A MULTI-SCREEN cinema, restaurants, a hotel, pub and shops will form part of a major shopping and leisure park, developers have revealed.

The Gazette revealed last week Harding Estates planned to create 1,500 jobs on land between the A120 and Harwich.

Now, it has emerged a proposed supermarket, employment land and 250 homes will be joined by a leisure park featuring a cinema, hotel and more.

Peter Williams of Harding Estates, said the scheme would provide a major boost for the local economy.

He said: “This is a once in a generation opportunity for us to create a destination that Harwich can be proud of and one that will create tremendous opportunities for young people to get on the housing ladder and further their careers.

“By combining shopping with restaurants and leisure facilities we will create a brand new evening leisure destination as well as giving local people much more choice about where they shop.

“I would encourage anyone with an interest in this scheme to come to the public exhibition and let us know what they think. The views of local people are absolutely vital.”

Subject to planning permission, building on the scheme could begin in early 2015.

It is understood a major supermarket wants to be part of the plans.

The scheme will provide more than 1,000 car parking spaces and a new roundabout junction on the A120 by-pass.

The public will be given the opportunity to quiz developers and submit comments at the exhibition.

It will be held at The Waterfront on Lower Marine Parade on December 10 from 12pm to 7pm and December 11 from 9am to 5pm.
