A HORROR smash left three women in hospital after a car flipped and rolled off a country road.
 

The red Hyundai crashed through a metal gate, smashing trees and flying into a ditch after the 48-year-old driver from Langenhoe lost control.
 

Police closed Oxley Hill and Layer Road near Abberton, Colchester, for more than two hours this morning while paramedics provided emergency care and firefighters tried to get them out of the overturned vehicle.

The incident took place just after 8am. None of those involved received life threatening injuries.
 

It was the second serious crash involving cars flipping and rolling into ditches within 24 hours on country roads in Colchester.
 

Yesterday a green Peugeot 206 and white Ford panel van clipped each other at about 10.30am on Berechurch Hall Road.

Fortunately the 37-year-old female driver was not seriously injured.
