MORE than 1,000 people visited Colchester Town Hall for the latest fundraising Secret Vintage Fair.

The Moot Hall, the Mayor’s Parlour and other council rooms were filled by 50 vintage stallholders displaying their wares in the run-up to Christmas.

Entertainment came from a Caro Emerald tribute act, who organiser and founder Lucy Craymer said captivated everyone who heard her.

She said the event, officially opened by mayor Laura Sykes, had so far raised £600 and counting for St Helena Hospice and a further £100 for Movember.

She said: “It went really well – we had more than 1,000 people through the doors. Money is still coming in from the sale of a calendar we have produced.

“We’re really grateful to the hospice, which helped make the event go well, and a big thank you to everyone who came.”

The location of the fairs, previously held at Liquid nightclub and Colchester Castle, are withheld until a few days before the event.

Details are released in the Gazette and then on the fair’s Facebook and Twitter pages. The next event is in the spring.
