EAGLE-EYED fans of TV show Made in Chelsea were surprised to spot a district councillor in one of the scenes.
Even Stephen Canning’s mum, Sandra, had been kept in the dark about the young councillor’s appearance on the Channel 4 show.
Tory Stephen, 20, fillmed in Chelsea’s Jeeves dry cleaners when two cast members went in to ask if a kimono could be fixed.
Mr Canning had applied to be an extra on the show and took part in a day’s filming last month.
He said: “It was my attempt at acting. I am not sure it was that good but it was something different to do.
“I got there at about 10am and left at about 5pm, so it was a long dry clean.
“I assumed I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone so when it appeared I got lots of people on Facebook and Twitter saying ‘is that you’ and ‘do you work in a dry cleaners?’
“My mum thought it was hilarious.
Stephen, who is studying business management at Anglia Ruskin University and represents Braintree Council’s Bocking Blackwater ward, admitted he would love to appear on ITV2 show the Only Way Is Essex.
