Knife crime summit on Thursday

A SUMMIT to try and find a solution to Colchester’s knife crime problem will be held on Thursday.

Members of the Safer Colchester Partnership will gather together to try and find ways to stop people, particularly youngsters, from carrying and using knives.

Among those attending will be Ann Oakes-Odger and Caroline Shearer whose sons died from knife wounds during incidents in 2005 and 2012.

The meeting will be held between 10am and 1pm at the Moot Hall, Colchester Town Hall on Thursday.

The public are invited to attend.

The summit was organised following a number of knifepoint robberies, stabbings and deaths related to knives in the town.
