POLICE have renewed their appeal for information after a man was knocked unconscious in Colchester’s Liquid nightclub.

Officers have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the attack on Nicholas Cowie.

Mr Cowie, 23, was knocked unconscious and required plastic surgery after the unprovoked assault.

He was in town for a friend’s birthday when he was knocked to the ground with a single blow.

He does not remember the assault.

PC Jason Munns said: “Inquiries to date to trace the man have so far been unsuccessful so detectives are releasing a CCTV image and asking the public to provide his name.

“While on the first floor stairwell of Liquid, on October 6, at 2.30am, he was elbowed in the face, knocking him out.

“He required hospital treatment and surgery to facial injuries.”

The Gazette spoke to Mr Cowie in the days after the attack.

He had to have plastic surgery on the skin above and below his eye to repair the damage. He had 15 stitches.

His lip was also cut and it is thought his attacker must have been wearing a ring.

He said: “We were heading to the smoking area.

“Someone was walking away from it and they just threw their arm out and punched me in the head.

“I have no memory of what happened.

My friends have told me.

“I remember coming round in the accident and emergency department at Colchester General Hospital.”

Anyone with information can call PC Munns at Colchester police on 101.
