POLICE are runing their appeal for witnesses after a man in his 20s died after a head-on crash in Bradfield.

The collision occurred when a blue Volkswagen Polo and a green BMW 318 struck each other on Brickman’s Hill at 8pm last night.

The driver of the Polo, Kyle Martin, 21 of Windmill Road, was pronounced dead at the scene while the BMW driver, a 51-year-old man from the Clacton area was taken to Colchester General Hospital with a serious facial injury. He was later discharged.

A silver Honda Civic was driving behind the Polo at the time of the collision and the driver of this car, a 25-year-old local man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was later released on police bail until Monday February 3 2014, pending further enquiries.

Part of the road was closed for six hours while forensic collision investigators tried to identify the cause of the crash.

A volunteer doctor from the Suffolk Accident Rescue service attended the scene and offered support.
