Catalytic converter thefts in Colchester

Essex County Standard: Catalytic converter thefts in Colchester Catalytic converter thefts in Colchester

A CATALYTIC converter has been removed from a van parked in Colchester.

The exhaust system was taken from a Mercedes Sprinter van parked in Avon Way between 7pm and 8pm on Monday, November 18.

It is the latest in a number of similar thefts around Colchester including at a delivery company and car showroom.

PC Chris Raynsford said: "These two thieves were clearly professional as they did not damage the van in any way.

"Our initial enquiries suggest that several cars drove past the van while the exhaust was being stolen.

"We also believe that the two men are white and were using a silver saloon car for transport.

"We’re keen to hear from people who saw the theft being carried out or two men loitering around the car."

Anyone with information call Colchester police station on 101.
