A MOTHER has launched a major fundraiser to boost the fight against a heart condition carried by her son.

Anne-Marie Ingram was inspired by family members to organise the event for the Cardiomyopathy Association.

Her 12-year-old son Bryndon carries the cardiomyopathy gene, while his dad, two uncles, grandfather and three cousins all suffer from the condition.

Anne-Marie, of Northbourne Road, Clacton, has now organised an event at FC Clacton’s Rush Green Bowl ground to help boost research and treatment.

She said: “My parents-inlaw have held a number of events for the association, and I wanted to do something, too.

“To start with, I was planning on holding a chocolate party at my house, but the event has got bigger and bigger, resulting in a huge fundraiser.

“So many local companies have wanted to help, their support has been amazing. I really would like to thank the many friends and family who have pitched in, too.”

There will be gift, chocolate and body shop stalls, a silent auction, tombola, prize raffle and a visit from Santa.

A mass of raffle and auction prizes have been donated, including tickets for Walton Pier and Clacton’s Century Cinema, as well as Rollerworld and Go Bananas, in Colchester.

Entry to the event at the Rush Green Road ground next Monday from 7pm is free.

Cardiomyopathy is a disease, usually inherited, which can cause sudden death if untreated.

It is the most common cause of sudden death amongst people under 35.

One high-profile incident saw top footballer Marc- Vivien Foe collapse during a game. The Cameroonian international died, despite the efforts of pitch-side paramedics.
