BURGLARS who tried to break into a house using garden sheers and a fork are being sought by police.

Officers were called to Drury Road, Colchester, following the attempted raid between 8am and 5.15pm on Monday.

Burglars had tried to get in theough the back door.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Garden tools including a small screwdriver, large garden sheers and a long handled small fork were left by the door.

"They do not belong to the homeowner so officers believe they may have been left there by the suspects."

Det Con Hannah Richardson, from Colchester CID, added: "I would urge any residents in the nearby area to check their sheds or garages to see if any of their garden tools have been stolen.”
