Colchester Council backs decision to block KFC on Ipswich Road
10:49am Wednesday 2nd October 2013 in News
BUILDING a fast-food takeaway on the outskirts of Colchester is not sustainable, according to Colchester Council.
KFC has appealed against Tendring District Council’s decision not to let it open a restaurant in Ipswich Road, next to the historic Lion and Lamb cottage.
A date has yet to be set for the appeal hearing but the council has written to the Planning Inspectorate outlining its concerns.
It states the site is not a sustainable location for a restaurant, it could harm the town centre and the proposal is out of keeping with its surroundings.
