Baby expert Lisa's here to help in book deal

COLCHESTER’S supernanny has landed a bumper book deal.
Lisa Clegg self-published her first book, The Blissful Baby Expert, in February, but now she has signed a two-book deal with publisher Random House.
It means her book will be officially re-launched in February by the publishing powerhouse, which has been the number one publisher of parent books for the last 20 years.
The mum-of-three has also committed to writing a sequel, The Blissful Toddler Expert, which is due out in spring 2015.
It will cover topics such as tackling tantrums, potty training and how to cope with a new sibling.
Mrs Clegg, 33, of Green Acres Road, in Layer de la Haye, said: “It’s been better than I’d ever imagined.
“Getting a deal was only ever a pipe dream for me so to know I’ll be able to help so many more mums with it is great.”
Having worked for seven years as a maternity nurse and as a maternity night nurse, she is well-placed to give advice.
She added: “Everything I’ve written about, I have been through myself.
“I’ve had the sleepless nights and everything new mums are finding difficult, I have found difficult.
“I think sometimes if parents are being given advice by people who don’t have children, the natural reaction is ‘you have no idea’."
Mrs Clegg, mum to Jack, aged ten, Ollie, seven, and Loren, two, has also said she will continue to offer free advice to parents over email.
“It’s something I have done with all my mums and I’ve worked with the publisher on it and as long as it’s do-able I will continue to do it.
“People have always been very appreciative of the help, so I want to keep doing it as long as I can.”
She is now part of Andrew Lownie Literary Agency, which brokered a deal, worth ten times what she was initially offered when she submitted her manuscript in July.
