Car ban back in a fortnight
11:58am Tuesday 1st October 2013 in News
COLCHESTER’S car ban will return to the town on Sunday October 13.
Essex County Council has confirmed parts of the previously suspended Traffic Regulation Orders for the town centre will be re-introduced.
They include bus lanes on Middleborough turning right onto North Hill, southbound on North Hill and on High Street turning right onto Queen Street.
The High Street can still be used by cars.
The bus lanes will be in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will be monitored by automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras.
The lanes will be on a trial basis until September 2014 and if successful, will be made permanent.
