Police chief targets "lazy" officers

Essex's police chief Stephen Kavanagh has accused some officers of phoning in sick after boozy nights out and has said he will clamp down on the practice.
Mr Kavanagh said the force and the community is being let down by a minority of staff who abuse the absence system.
- Two robbers attacked a commuter with a metal pole in what has been described as a vicious and unprovoked attack in Colchester.
- Careless crooks were caught on camera as they smashed their way into a store in an early morning raid.
The burglars shattered a window to gain access to Essex Electronics in Clacton but the break in was filmed on CCTV.
- Mum Rhia Dalby and her son Riley have held a fundraisers to help children with genetic disorders - after Riley overcame the odds himself.
