Talks to be held on proposed slimline Colchester Council

THE number of councillors serving Colchester are to be slashed by at least 10 per cent.

Yesterday, Conservative group leader Will Quince told his counterparts he believed only 51 members of the council were needed. The Tories had originally suggested the authority could have been slimmed down to 45 councillors.
So far Labour and the Highwoods Independent Group have agreed a cut to 54 councillors, while the largest Lib Dem group have yet to come to a consensus.
