Wendy raises £13,000 for cancer patients
A FUNDRAISING grandmother, who is fighting cancer, has raised more than £13,000 to help cancer sufferers.
Wendy Ofuasia has a malignant and inoperable brain tumour and is undergoing chemotherapy.
But she is determined to raise money to help other cancer patients through her own charity, Star of Hope.
A black-tie dinner and charity auction at the Weston Homes Community Stadium in Colchester has raised nearly £13,000.
The money will go towards Macmillan Cancer Care and Wendy, 52, of Tynedale Square, Highwoods, Colchester, has more fundraisers in the pipeline.
She is hosting a Macmillan coffee morning next Friday and is also hoping to collect cash at Marks and Spencer in Colchester next Wednesday.
A Calendar Girls style-calendar, in which Wendy and colleagues from Essex County Council, pose nearly nude, is on sale.
And Wendy is also planning a Macmillan Christmas walk on December 1 to boost the cashpot.
