A HUSBAND is to run a half marathon to thank medics who treated his wife for breast cancer.
Simon Plumridge, 48, is to run the Royal Parks Foundation half marathon for a Colchester Hospitals Charity (CoHoC) fund after wife Victoria was successfully treated.
One of the doctors who cared for Victoria, Dr Phil Murray, has twice taken part in the same event around London’s Royal Parks to raise money for the same cause.
The fund will enhance the experience of patients who will use a new radiotherapy centre under construction at Colchester General Hospital.
Simon, of Nunns Close, Coggeshall, will be joined on October 6 by friends Dave Barter, Lee Meyrick and Dave Standen.
He said: “When we learned that the team were raising funds to complete a new radiotherapy department, we really wanted to get involved.
“It seemed a great opportunity to show our appreciation for the amazing care and support that Victoria received and continues to receive.”
Victoria, 42, underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy and is now doing well. The couple have three children, Alice, 14, Max 12, and Evie, 9.
