Witham: Brave Ella granted shopping trip wish

A teenage shopaholic who underwent major spinal surgery is set to get the celebrity treatment by being whisked away in a limo for a spot of retail therapy.
Ella Blade’s extravagant shopping trip was organised by Ray of Sunshine - a charity that grants wishes for children with serious illnesses.
Ella, of Osbert Road, Witham, will be transported in style to and from London’s Westfield Shopping Centre, where she will also be taken for dinner and given money to spend in the shops.
The 14-year-old was diagnosed with an extreme case of Scoliosis - a curving of the spine - in May after an accident in a park exposed the problem, which doctors now believe she may have been unknowingly suffering since she was about ten.
Such was the severity of the deformity that Ella required a three-stage spinal fusion at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore this summer.
It meant undergoing three major operations, with titanium rods and screws used to straighten her spine.
