Job skills centre to become permanent fixture in Greenstead
9:00am Monday 2nd September 2013 in News
GREENSTEAD residents are set to be offered free job training in a bid to cut unemployment in the estate.
Colne Housing is setting up a permanent job skills centre which will focus training on what Colchester employers are in need of.
Training will focus on health and social care, customer service, catering and retail.
Work Fit, which is jointly run by training firm Anne Clarke Associates, has already begun, but is expected to become a permanent fixture in Greenstead Community Centre from late September.
It will initially be available to about 30 people, but it is hoped that will increase to 100.
The scheme is open to anyone, not just Colne Housing tenants.
An open day for the initiative will take place on Thursday at Greenstead Community Centre, between 11am and 3pm, when the centre will be visited by shadow housing minister, Jack Dromey MP.
