"False Facebook claims threaten to ruin my takeaway"
8:00pm Wednesday 28th August 2013 in News
A COUPLE who run a Colchester takeaway say false Facebook claims rats were found on their floor has crippled their business.
A post on the social media site claimed a visitor to Bar B Q House in North Station Road last week saw two “baby rat pups” on the floor.
It was claimed: “After telling the staff they just swept it up in a dustpan and took it into the kitchen.”
Last night, the post and a picture of two rats had been shared to the thousands of “friends” of more than 530 Facebook users.
Further comments posted included “rank!”, “do not get food from here!”, and: “I now feel sick! We always order from there...”
Alison Potter, 27, who took over the takeaway in May 2012 with partner Shalaw Salihi, said takings over the Bank Holiday weekend had dropped dramatically.
A typical Friday or Saturday night would see the takeaway make up to 100 deliveries. Last weekend, this had dropped to 60.
