Success for Rugby Pups
2:55pm Tuesday 27th August 2013 in News
A FITNESS group for toddlers is raking in success only weeks after it was set up.
Rugby Pups was the brainchild of Sarah Myerscough and her husband Neal, of Colchester.
The pair, who have two young girls, set up the club to give children a chance to learn new skills and develop a love of sport.
Four weeks on they already have been getting offers from Colchester primary schools who want to work with them.
Mrs Myerscough, 30, of Highwoods, said: “Up until May I was working as an immigration lawyer in London.
“But I decided to quit, it wasn’t for me.
“I hadn’t even thought what I was going to do. My husband has played rugby all his life.
“We have a three-year-old and an 18-month-old and we just thought ‘let’s start our own rugby club for kids’.
“We expected a few kids but we’ve had loads.”
“It’s really gone surprisingly well.”
Children are taught skills such as throwing and catching.
Rugby Pups initially started with classes on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
The club has this week had offers to start teaching after school at Brinkley Grove and they are also speaking to Highwoods Primary School about starting there.
Classes are available from ages two to seven.
