Colchester entrepreneur launches fuel discount scheme
AN ENTREPRENEUR is calling on people to sign up for his innovative petrol money-saving scheme.
Simon Collins, from Layer-de-la-Haye, has set up the People’s Fuel Card.
The card, which works like a bulk-buying scheme, is the first of its kind for the public and could deliver savings of 4-15p per litre at the petrol pumps.
Mr Collins, 31, has already convinced brokers and got the systems for the scheme in place but now needs the support of 10,000 people to show backers the card is viable.

How the card works:
AT its core the People’s Fuel Card works on the principle of bulk-buying power.
In much the same way as houses in rural areas which use heating oil club together to get a cheaper price, under Mr Collins’ much bigger scheme if all motorists join up when they buy petrol it will be cheaper.
In practical terms each cardholder would receive an email or text each week with a price for fuel, which could be up to 15p cheaper than the advertised price depending on local variations.
People taking part in the scheme would need to pass a credit check, and pay off their bill fortnightly or monthly.
