Husband admits stalking ex-wife
10:00am Monday 19th August 2013 in News
A MAN admitted stalking his ex-wife and took pictures of her with her new man while they were in bed.
Carl Barnard followed Caroline Barnard home from the pub, before waiting until the lights went out and sneaking in the back door.
He went upstairs and waited outside Mrs Barnard’s bedroom door before taking a photograph the pair in bed.
Barnard also sent the picture as a text message to his ex-wife 22 times.
Philip Pearson, prosecuting, said Barnard, 41, of Waterside Marina, in Brightlingsea, separated from his wife in 2010.
He added: “He followed her from a pub where she had met a male friend and waiting for her at the end of the road to challenge her on why she was with another man.”
But near to her home, Mrs Barnard confronted him and asked him to leave her alone.
Mr Pearson added: “But he then waited until the lights had gone out and went to the back door and found it was open.
“Mr Barnard went upstairs and for some time stood outside the bedroom listening to a conversation the pair were having.
“He then took the photograph and began sending the texts to her.”
Barnard admitted stalking on July 27 when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
The case was adjourned for sentencing pending a report from probation officers.
Barnard will be sentenced on September 9.
